A new blog

I have a goal....I want to start making all my clothes. I want to make everything, not just dresses, tops and skirts but trousers that actually fit (sway/hollow back and a waist a size smaller than my hips always means shop bought rarely fit), tailored jackets, a winter coat, even lingerie.

I'm still at the beginner level with regards to sewing and knitting (simple shapes, no buttons/zips). But that is going to change, I'm going to tackle muslins, invisible zips, button holes, pockets, linings ....the clothes are going to be as beautiful on the inside too, bound edges, french seams, soft linings...

I have a lovely, new shiny sewing machine to help me on my way...a dress form, hopefully, is arriving next month to display my creations (I am rather camera shy!).

My first project for myself is going to be a rather simple one to start me off gently...a loose fitting dress, the factory dress, courtesy of one of my favourite on-line shops, Merchant and Mills. I pretty much love everything in this shop!

At the moment on the knitting needles is a cardigan/coat in garter stitch, a pattern from a Debbie Bliss book, this hopefully is going to be a Christmas present for my mum.

Hopefully pictures will be forthcoming on the next post.....all I have to do is work out how to up/download them.

Take care all,
